Android Factory Reset Protection (FRP) is a new feature to protect your devices that are running Android OS 5.1 or higher. This feature allows you to set up your device to prevent other people from using it if it’s been reset to factory settings without your permission. For example, if your device is lost, stolen, flashed, or wiped,


NOTE : Important! You must set up a Google account in order to utilize the FRP feature. It is highly recommended that you set a secure screen lock on your device. Only someone with your Google account or screen lock information can perform a factory data reset and use the device.



Why use google Account For FRP ?
If a device is supports the FRP feature and a Google account has been added to the device and the device has then been Factory reset by the customer, then once the device has rebooted, the customers Google account details will be required to complete the setup wizard as shown below:

How to Know My Device Supported Android FRP Lock ?
The availability of the FRP feature is dependent on your carrier and device model. To see if you have the FRP feature, follow these steps:
From the Home screen, touch Apps -> Settings -> Lock screen and security.
If the Reactivation Lock feature is not shown, then you have the FRP feature.
FRP Activation Using Setup Wizard
When performing the initial setup of your device, you must create or sign into a Google account in order to activate the FRP feature. After turning your device on for the first time, follow the initial set up instructions.
At the Tap & Go screen, if you already have a Google account, you can copy any account info, backed up apps, or data to your new device from your previous. Follow the on-screen instructions to copy your account info to your new device. Otherwise, touch SKIP.
At the Add your account screen, enter your account information, or if you don’t have a Google account, touch Or create a new account and follow the on-screen instructions. At the Protect your phone screen, touch SET SCREEN LOCK NOW. Select one of the supported screen lock options (any option other than Swipe or None) and follow the on-screen instructions. Continue the initial setup procedures until complete. Now, if your phone is lost or stolen, your Google account information or screen lock information must be entered before a factory data reset can be made so your device and its contents will be unusable to the person that found or stole your device.
FRP Setup After Device Has Been Setup
If you did not sign into a Google account when you initialized your device, you will need to do that first, before you can be protected by FRP. Although it is not required to use FRP, it is recommended that you set up a secure screen lock.
Setup Google Account

1 : From any Home screen, touch Apps > Settings > Accounts > Add account > Google.
2 : Follow the on-screen instructions to create a new Google account or sign into an existing account.

Set a Screen Lock

From a Home screen, touch Apps > Settings > Lock screen and security.
Tap Screen lock type to select one of the following screen lock types and level of security:
Pattern: A screen unlock pattern is a tap gesture you create and use to unlock your device. This option provides medium security.
PIN: Select a PIN to use for unlocking the screen. This option provides medium to high security.
Password: Create a password for unlocking the screen. This option provides high security.
Fingerprints: Use fingerprint recognition to unlock the screen. This option provides medium to high security.

3 : If choosing a secured lock screen option, select one of the notification settings.

How to Factory Reset if FRP is Enabled
There may be times when you wish to perform a Factory Data Reset on your device.

Note: FRP is enabled on your device if you are using Android 5.1 OS or higher, your device initially released with version 5.0 or higher, and you have a Google account on your device. It is highly recommended that you have a secure screen lock enabled. Since your device is protected, you’ll need to unlock your screen if you need to do a factory reset. This ensures that you or someone you trust is doing the reset.

Important: If you reset your Google account password and need to do a factory reset, you will need to wait 72 hours after changing your password to reset your device. For security purposes, you can’t use the related account to access the device after reset if the password was changed within 72 hours.

To perform a Factory Data Reset when FRP is enabled, follow these procedures:

1 : From a Home screen, touch Apps > Settings > Backup and reset > Factory data reset.
2 : Touch RESET DEVICE and follow the prompts to perform the reset.
3 : When the device restarts, you will be taken through the Setup Wizard again.

If your device has encountered an untrusted reset, hard key factory reset, reset from Android Device Manager or Samsung Find My Mobile, or repair services that include resetting the device’s software, without first removing the account:

1 : Verify connection to a Wi-Fi or cellular network.
2 : When prompted, you will be asked to verify the previously used Google user-name and password. Follow the on-screen prompts.
3 : When prompted again, enter your Google account. You can enter a new Google account or the one you previously used.
